Love Is Like Fire

By Ron Surgeon  /

“Love does whatever it takes to multiply itself and somehow along the way everyone becomes a part of it.” - Bob Goff

Love is an enlarging adventure, and I’m experiencing it with new eyes. My daughter and I have a unique love. It is unlike any love I have had for anyone—ever. The love I have for my wife is a unique love, a love only for her. It is a love unshared, uncompromising, untamed, tailored, tethered, distinct and unique among all the individuals I have loved from my youth until now. My mother holds a special place in my heart. Love for her is unique. She is unique.

Since I was a kid, I have probably loved millions of people nationally and internationally. My love for each of them is unique, yet my capacity for love never caps. Throughout my lifetime, as I continue to know more and more people, I find my heart expands larger and LARGER to encompass them in my love. Love, like fire, is always thirsty. Love, by nature, never plateaus.

My love is like the grave, it can never say, “Enough!” Imagine this, God has created and loved googolplexes of beings existing before humankind was created and all of humankind since the beginning. And still, his capacity for love is bottomless. If you really ponder it, your mind will blow a fuse. Bottomless love! I like how it sounds. His love is a house without a ceiling. It’s a never ending road. His love is a song without a last verse, an inextinguishable flame🔥. That love for each being is unique.

“Love in its essence is spiritual fire.” Seneca

God numbers the stars and calls them each by name. Because of his great power, not one of them is missing (Isaiah 40:26). Although he keeps up with the stars, it was not for them that he died. “He loved ME and gave himself up for ME (Galatians 2:20).

God loved the world (John 3:16) AND he loved [insert name here]. I AM uniquely loved by God. Among all those that live, have lived, or will ever live, you are special. Love is exceptional… ’nuff said.

“...and the greatest of these is love.” 1 Corinthians 13:13

If you want to be something in life, be love. If I am unloving, “...and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing.” ‭‭1 Corinthians‬ ‭13:2‬ ‭NIV‬‬‬‬
